Topic: Awesome Prepper Products to Prepare you Properly in your Post Apocalyptic Prowess

Wanted to add more items to the list, but I wanted to discuss items that would be awesome products for the survivalist that will not break the bank.

The Friendly Swede Adjustable Premium Paracord Bracelet with Fire Starter and Sharp Eye Knife

paracord bracelet

A 3-in-1 survival kit:

  • Paracord Bracelet
    • 17.5 ft (5.3 m) of 500lb paracord
    • Important thing in this is that it is ONE SOLID piece of paracord
    • The bracelet is also adjustable from 7-9” Wrists
  • Flint and steel firestarter
    • The toggle is flint
    • The loop is steel
  • A knife
    • The loop has an almost razor knife attached to it
    • Not a survival knife, or even a good pocket knife, but can cut rope if you found yourself tied up

Lifetime warranty

It is double strung, so it is really big.

  • About the size of a small belt in width
  • Not for small people, unless you like bulky bracelets

Best part of the bracelet is that you don’t need to take it apart to use flint and steel.

Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter Pro Hammock

Trunk Skeeter Beeter Pro Hammock

  • It is a hammock and mosquito netting
  • It is actually designed similar to a tent
    • It has a double sided zipper
  • If you flip the hammock over, the netting is larger than the hammock so you can lay on it as a normal hammock
  • Weight is 28 oz
  • Area 10’6” by 5’
  • Capacity 400lbs
  • Remember that this is a hammock!
    • You wick heat away when on it
    • So, if it is cold enough for you to need warmth:
      • Invert hammock
      • Place insulation between hammock and netting
      • And sleep on an insulated bed just barely off the ground
      • Then place tarp above the hammock to keep warmth in and wind out

LifeStraw Personal Water Filter

LifeStraw Personal Water Filter

This thing has been all over survival websites for a reason

  • Removes Log 6(99.9999%) of waterborne bacteria
  • And Log 3(99.9%) of waterborne protozoan parasites
  • Filters up to 1000 liters (250gal) of contaminated water with no additions
    • It will not filter chemicals, salts, metals, or viruses
  • You must blow back into the lifestraw after using to get water back out
  • It is not small.  It is probably nearly a foot long and wide… not a straw
  • It is lightweight and reliable for bug out bags
  • Product to add to this:
    • Coffee Filters and wide rubber bands
      • Use these as pre-filters
      • The filter will get clogged in mucky water
      • Place coffee filter over bottom
      • Band in place
    • And now you have doubled the life of the filter and kept it cleaner
  • The leading cause of death in third world countries is diarrhea

Maybe try the next product instead…

Sawyer Products Mini Water Filtration System

Sawyer Products Mini Water Filtration System

  • This one removes LOG 7 of bacteria and LOG 6 of protozoa
  • It is 1 micron instead of 2 microns like the lifestraw
  • It is half the length and the same weight
  • It requires a syringe to clean out, because it is harder to “blow-out” a 1-micron filter
    • This makes the packing footprint the same
  • Other benefits that the sawyer has over the Lifestraw is
    • that it comes with an additional water pouch and flexible straw
      • This makes it versatile
    • It also connects to standard water bottles and will work attached to your hydration pack hose!
  • With both this and the Lifestraw, it is a physical barrier, so when filter is full, just backwash and it works again

Night Owl Tactical Series G1 Night Vision Binocular Goggles (1x)

Night Owl Tactical Series G1 Night Vision Binocular Goggles (1x)

  • This is a head mounted, hands free compact binoculars
  • It is night vision and has 1x magnification
  • Binoculars flip up to get them out of your way.
  • Has infrared illuminator built in
  • Made of aluminum
  • 23 oz on your head, 14 of which is the binocular
  • Battery life is 40-80 hours on 2 1.5V Type-N batteries (which are expensive)
  • If you get these, they will feel a little cheap
  • They will give you a clarity of about 8 out of 10 at $560 when the better sets run $1500+
  • Problem with these is that they use gen1 technology
    • Also the infrared light is weak, so you will need a dedicated light for better vision
    • Assume that you will not be able to see clearly beyond 25 ft.
  • I would say that this is a cool tool for bright moon nights,
  • When you use infared, people can see the red “terminator eye” glow

Cant buy this in the wonderful state of California!

You could try the next product instead:

  • Opens up to 56”W x 96”L x 52”H (you can stand up, but hunch down)
  • It has a 2.5” foam mattress that takes up the entire bed.
  • There is also a zip on Annex room with this for changing and such.
  • Unfolds off either side or the rear

Emergency Hammer with Built in Flashlight and Seatbelt Cutter

Another 3-in-1 tool

  • This is a glass-breaking emergency hammer
    • Precision tip will break glass easily
  • It has a seatbelt cutter
    • It was designed to be safe from cutting yourself
  • Has a 3 led flashlight

Has a reflector on it so you can find it easily

A little heavy and bulky for your BOB, but you should have one in every vehicle

  • Uses basic AAA batteries
  • And a mounting bracket so you can install it where you will be able to reach it

Liquid Image 305G XSC-Xtreme Sport Cams LIC Hydra Series 12MP Mask Waterproof Video Camera with 1-Inch LCD (Black/Green)

  • There ARE better versions than this but this one was just over $100!
  • They used to have one that was all black, but it isn’t around anymore, and there is lime green trim on this one.
  • Has a wide angle camera (kinda like the go-pro)
    • Video Mode is 720P up to 30 FPS
    • Photo Mode is a 12 MP camera
    • Will shoot 30 minutes of video or 700 images per 1GB of memory via micro-SD
  • Uses 4 AAA batteries
  • Can dive to 130 ft (40m)
  • Issues with mask mounted cameras:
