This sweet and crunchy oven-baked trail mix is the perfect on the go snack. Loaded with maple glazed nuts, tart dried cherries, and dark chocolate chips, this mix is way better than store-bought—and way cheaper.

Ingredients for maple glazed trail mix

This trail mix has the taste and texture of a deconstructed KIND bar. Maple glazed almonds, pecans, pumpkin seeds, and coconut flakes give it a sweet and satisfying crunch. The tart dried cherries balance the sweet with their brightness and offer a bit of flavor. And the chocolate chips add a smooth richness.

Stirring ingredients for maple glazed trail mix

To start, combine the nuts, pumpkin seeds, and coconut flakes into a large bowl and drizzle with the maple syrup. Use a rubber spatula to make sure everything is well coated. Then transfer to a Silpat-lined bake sheet and spread out evenly. Place in a 300 F oven for 20 minutes.

Remove from the oven and allow to completely cool. Using a spatula or your hands, break apart the trail mix and place it into another bowl. Mix in the dried cherries and chocolate chips and then store. Not only is this trail mix amazing out on the trail, but it’s good enough to serve at a party.

Maple Glazed Trail Mix

Makes 4 (½ cup) servings // 25 minutes

Ingredients

½ cup raw almonds
½ cup raw pecan halves
⅓ cup unsweetened coconut chips
¼ cup pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
3 tablespoons maple syrup
⅛ teaspoon sea salt
¼ cup chocolate chips
¼ cup dried cherries

Directions

Preheat the oven to 300F. In a medium bowl, mix the almonds, pecans, coconut chips, pepitas, maple syrup, and salt. Stir to evenly coat. Spread the mixture on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. Transfer trail mix to a clean bowl and add the chocolate chips and cherries. Store in an airtight container.
