The 2020 Slayer features progressive geometry, a boost in front and rear suspension travel and adjustable geometry. Built to Shred

The Slayer has a storied pedigree. Introduced for the 2001 model year in the heyday of the freeride movement, the Slayer has evolved with the times, with larger diameter wheels, and longer, slacker geometry. As downhill bikes have become dedicated race weapons, the new Slayer straddles the line between enduro racing and park riding.

Enduro racers concerned about speed may opt for the 29-inch version, while park riders are likely to prefer the increased playfulness of the 27.5-inch Slayer. The 27.5-inch Slayer features 180mm of front and rear suspension, while it’s big-wheeled brother sees a slight decrease in suspension travel to 170mm front and rear.

According to Rocky Mountain, the new Slayer features a less dramatic change in anti-squat through the first part of the travel. This is intended to increase small bump compliance. The suspension rate has also been adjusted to make it more progressive than the previous version, which is better suited to coil shocks, which come stock on several Slayer builds.

In keeping with the times, the latest Slayer has roomy cockpits with long reach measurements, a steeper seat tube angle to keep the rider centered while climbing and short chainstays to improve agility.

Rocky Mountain has carried over its RIDE-4 geometry adjust system. A pair of Allen keys is all that’s required to reorient the geometry chip, located in the shock link, to adjust the frame’s angles in four different positions.
