Today is part 6 of my ” How to build a snare trap” series. I want to get out of snares for a little bit and want to show you a classic trapping trigger… the figure 4 deadfall. This is also a great way for cage trapping. It really depends how I feel, how I will post. Will it be images or text? Today is an image with text on it. There will only be one image and I will add some other things below it.
I will show you how to set up a deadfall, but if you want to live trap, you can place a cage in place of the deadfall.

How to Build a Snare Trap P6: Figure 4 Deadfall or Cage Trapping
Well, this was easier for me to show you on photo, and send you off to build fail, build again, and succeed.
You Want at least three sticks. b oth the fulcrum stick and the weight stick is about the same length. The Bait stick is long and is meant to place the bait in a good place for the game to trigger the deadfall.
The notch on the weight stick that the fulcrum fits into is the same as the notch on the bait stick that the fulcrum goes into. The tips that go into each of these notches are basically the same.
The bait stick needs to be sharp to stick the bait on it.
The only notch that is different is the one that connects the fulcrum to the bait stick. The fulcrum is shaved down so two sides are squared off from the bait stick all the way down to the base.
The weight stick may be shaped at the top to better fit the load.
