Many times in your life, you will end up in some type of disaster. I don’t know what all of them are. But I can guarantee that you will see a bad storm, wild fire, house fire, hurricane, earthquake or other disaster that could require you to run away or “bug out” from the problem.
If you believe that you are going to grab your Bug-Out Bag (BOB) or Go Bag and hike out on foot every time a hurricane blows through the east coast, you are severely confused, my friend. This makes absolutely no sense!
What you need is a Bug-Out Vehicle (BOV)! Unless the roads are impassible due to a tragedy that has already occurred, blocking your exit, you are wisest to use a vehicle.
On foot, you are probably only carrying 50 pounds of gear on a good day. You can easily carry hundreds or thousands of pounds of gear with a vehicle.
Are you a marathon runner? Great! You can make it about 26 miles down the road with a few gallons of water on your back. Maybe, because you are hiking with a 50 pound sack, you can still make around 25 miles before you are exhausted, and only because you are walking instead.
A Bug-Out Vehicle (BOV) can go generally 300-400 miles on a tank of gas. This is a no brainer.
If you are hiking at a great pace, you will be travelling a mile every 14 minutes. This would mean that it would take you 5 hours just to go 25 miles.
In a vehicle, following the speed limit, I can easily cover 325 miles. Interesting… about a tank of gas.
Try going on a hike with a 2 year old, a 4 year old, a 7 year old, a 10 year old, and a spouse. Then take all the gear that each person needs with you. You WILL BE SLOW.
If you are NOT carrying your poor toddler, because you have a massive bag on your back, how quickly do you think your 2 and 4 year old children are going to be able to walk???
In a Bug-Out Vehicle (BOV), everyone can travel at 50, 60, or even 70 miles an hour without getting too tired.
A Bug-Out Vehicle (BOV) can take you and your entire party faster and further than walking ever will. There is no waiting for people to take breaks. There is no leaving family members behind. Vehicles just make sense!
