What to do for Memorial Day, Visiting a Memorial Cemetery
Yesterday, May 27, 2013, my family and I all went to visit a National Memorial Cemetery in Tennessee for Memorial Day after I wrote the Memorial Day blog post. I told them the story that I wrote yesterday over what Memorial Day is all about. It was of course the 4 and 7-year old’s version.
Through this post will be a few photos from the cemetery. All of these photos were taken with my cell phone, so forgive the lack of bokeh (that is selective focus for you non-photography types) but I think they turned out ok anyways.

Next, we did a tour around some civil-war battlefields, and saw a Bald-Eagles Nest! There were eagles swooping in and out, surveying the land and us, and even fighting in the air amongst themselves! Here I hung with some fellow photographers, that had much more money, and much better glass (lens) than I had. We talked cameras and lenses, eagles, and about how friendly these eagles seemed (unless, of course, you were the other eagle fighting it.)

Then, we ended up at a underground spring at the battlefield and filled up a container, that I was planning to boil when we got home. I was assured by a local tour guide that it was safe, but boiling it is only a minor inconvenience, and I had a camelbak full of ice-cold water already, so I decided against drinking it right there.

Next, we went to a nearby lake, where I let the children stand where fish kept swimming by our feet. I explained to the family how a dam works and all about hydro-generators. Then, they swam, of course.

We had dinner and went home to a house completely trashed by dogs, which we cleaned up. End of a busy, yet fulfilling day.

By the way, if any of you can guess where I was for Memorial Day, I will send you a Clever Survivalist sticker. I know it isn’t much, but I made it extremely easy to guess where I was. Only the first 3 guesses gets the sticker. I will do you one better… If you guess AND share my blog with another on facebook (which you will have to tell me…honor system), I will send you two. Remember, only the first 3 people will get one or two stickers, so hurry.
